NEWSLETTER – MARCH 2014
Greetings from Laureate International School!
The school reopened the 7th January 2014 for the second term which will last until March 30th. The school will reopen on the 8th April 2014 to start the 3rd term for this academic year.
The Cambridge oral French examinations have already taken place. They were conducted on the 14th of March this Month. Applied ICT paper 2 is scheduled to take place respectively on 27.3.2014. Other ICT papers 21, 31 and applied ICT paper 4 will take place respectively on the 2nd, 3rd and 10th this month.
The other A-level and IGCSE CIE examinations will take place from May 2nd and will end in June 12th this year.
Our school conducted mock examinations for both IGCSE and GCE candidates from12th March 2014 until 20th March 2014.
The 3rd Cycle test this academic year has already been conducted. The reports for mock exams and cycle test 3 will be issued to parents.
There have been 3 special school assemblies this term.
The first assembly put emphasis on the importance of students behaving well while in the school compound and in the school buses. Students were also reminded on how to prepare well on their exams and tests. It was pointed out that they should start revising and prepare for the exams well in advance and not to wait until exams starts.
The second assembly gave a chance for the four houses to give a talk/presentation concerning their house colours which are green, yellow, red and blue.
The 3rd School assembly was conducted to enable our students form a United Nations Youth Association. Students who wanted to be leaders of the association went in front and explained to the rest of the students the leadership position they would like to hold.

The positions to be contested for are:
The Chairperson, Vice – chairperson, Secretary General, Vice Secretary General and lastly the Treasurer. Election will take place during the 3rd term
Sports and activities :
September 2013: We participated in sports festival in Bagamoyo.
October 2013: Football and Basketball training camp was organized by Laureate International School and our students participated in a special training.
January 2014: Dar Es Salaam Regional Inter – Schools Football League. Our under 13 boys, under 13 girls, under 15 girls and under 15 boys participated and all teams managed to play the finals at HOPAC school.
February 2014: Our school teams (Under15 girls, under 15 boys, under 19 girls and under 19 boys) in the Tanzania International Schools Football Championships held in Morogoro. Our under 19 boys managed to win Championship by defeating the defending champions St. Constantine in the finals.
March 2014: Laureate School under 19 boys and girls visited St. Mary’s High school for a friendly basketball match.
July 2014: Our school will participate in a San Marino Football tournament in Italy, thereafter to Euro-club International summer camp in Croatia and wind up with a tour in Dubai’s attractions.
The study trips have been planned to take place as follows:
1. A trip to lake Natron during the end of term break from 29th March to 6th April 2014. Due to weather conditions the trip is cancelled.
2. A summer educational, sports and cultural tour to Italy, Croatia and Dubai from 4th July to 25th July, 2014.
School Board meeting:
The members of our school held the board’s meeting this month here at our laureate International school. The Head Master presented the School’s Report for the First term to the School Board.
Mr. Gerald Lipman from Australia International college of Hotel Management visited our school on 12th March this year and talked to Mr. Sterling about career opportunities for some students who would like to study at the college.
Mr. Nelly Kakere, a school inspector from Dar es Salaam zone accompanied by other three inspectors visited our school on the 17th March, 2014 and gave us a form to fill for self evaluation of our school. The form was filled by the Head of school and returned to the inspectorate office as instructed.
